Caroline Marks Dominates the US Champs
June 24, 2014
The Surfing America USA Championships took place last week at Lower Trestles in San Clemente. Fox had kids competing from the East Coast, West Coast and Hawaii. The surf was consistent 2-3 foot all week and offered up perfect split peaks for the kids. It made for a exciting week on the beach with the best the US had to offer.
In a highly contested Boys under 16 division we had both Nolan Rapoza and Luke Marks surfing strong all week long. Luke took 5th place putting on some of the most powerful surfing of the event. Nolan surfed his way into the final where he just missed out on the championship and placed 2nd. Both surfers impressed the Surfing America commity so much they earned a spot on Team USA. They will have a chance to compete for USA next year at the ISA World Championships.
Our own Fox Girl Caroline Marks did what no other amateur has done before. She entered three divisions 12 under, 14 under and 16 under and placed 1st in all three divisions. She won every heat including 3 finals and went down in the history books as the first ever surfer to win 3 divisions at a US Championship. This amazing performance earned Caroline a spot on the USA Surf Team. It is safe to say surfing has a new super star and woman's surfing is in great hands.
This was an amazing weekend for Fox having such a high caliber bunch of amateurs. The Fox surf am's encouraged each other throughout the week and this sent a message to our competitors that we mean business and Fox is offering up some of the nations best athletes.
Up next is NSSA Nationals at Huntington Beach from June 26th - July 3rd.
