Riding for the Fox Family since 2003, Tyler McCaul is key piece to the success of the team. Growing up, Tyler and older brother Cam, were taught to always go fast as opposed to “looking flashy” while participating in local DH races. Tyler would always look for the best jumps to do whips on. One of Tyler’s favorite people to ride with is his brother Cam. His first memory of riding with Cam, was when he learned to ride without his training wheels. Trying to impress his brother and his friends, Tyler attempted a to cruise a U-Turn, but crashed. Although Cam and his friends laughed at Tyler, I’m sure they had all the respect in world for him. Good thing Tyler kept with it, as he has become a common name in the Freeride world. His latest 1st place finish at Crankworx Dual Speed and Style shows he is at the top of his game.

Where is your favorite place to ride?
The deserts of Southern Utah. Can't find another place like it anywhere on earth.
If you weren't a Pro Rider, what would you be doing?
Who knows! I'd like to think it'd be something cool, but I can't think of anything else I'd rather be doing.
Who are some of your favorite bands?
Nirvana, The Black Angels, Atmosphere, Death From Above 1979, Misfits and Cunninlynguists are some that come to mind at the moment.I go through phases though, and I have a pretty wide range of stuff that I'll listen to. Pretty much everything but country, reggae, and that pop stuff. I try to find new music all the time and I recently discovered Sadistik and have been listening to him a bunch lately.
What do you like most about riding for Fox?
The fact that they support me in whatever I do, and the fact that as long as I ride for them I won't have to go shopping ever again. They make everything! Oh, and especially the face that since I started riding for Fox my Mom finally stopped getting me socks and boxers for Christmas...
What motivates you to ride MTB?
Being able to get creative with it. I like thinking about new tricks, and going to new spots being able to look at a blank canvas and being able to dig and create whatever I envision. Building new stuff to ride is definitely a huge part of what keeps it fun for me. I also like being able to inspire kids and show them that it is possible to make a career out of doing what you love, rather than getting sucked into the monotony of an everyday 9 to 5 career.
As a Pro, what is your most proud MTB moment?
Probably the first time I ever got a shot printed ina magazine. I remember being at baseball practice when I was 13 and my brother running up to me with a magazine and showing me my shot in it. I thought that was pretty darn cool...
