Steve Smith

After racing BMX for seven years, 14-year-old Stevie Smith got his first mountain bike and started racing DH. Mountain biking the rainforest trails of Vancouver Island's Mt. Prevost gave Stevie something new to do every day, unlike his repetitive BMX days. His competitive edge and crave to always go fast kept his motivation for racing going. Dubbed the "King of Canadian Downhill Racing" by Cycles Devinci, Smith conquered the DH World Cup Overall Championship in 2013. Nicknamed the "Chainsaw", Stevie was awarded a one of a kind, hand painted chainsaw from Fox for his efforts in 2013. Already a premier BEAST in the DH scene, Stevie will continue to battle for DH World Cup Championships for years to come.

Where is your favorit place to ride?
Mount Provost Duncan B.C. I've been riding that mountain since I first got a mountain bike. It's been a big part in my progression over the years and the trails have only gotten better and better.

If you weren't a Pro Rider, what would you be doing?
Riding my bicycle unprofessionally, haha. Hard to say what I would do for a job other than racing, but I'd like to hope it would be something in the bike industry.

Who are some of your favorite bands?
NWA, Tupac, A$AP, Eminem, etc...

What do you like most about riding for Fox?
Fox is straight up a rad brand. From everyone working at the company to how sick all the product is. Protection is key when it comes to putting in a full season injury free and Fox keeps me safe with comfort and no restrictions. I look good too.

What motivates you to ride MTB?
Going fast! The feeling I get from going fast is absolutely incomparable to any feeling in the world. I love being at the races but what keeps me going and progressing I think is just how much I enjoy it. I feel like a kid in a candy store every time I'm on any of my bikes.

As a Pro, what is your most proud MTB moment?
I have a few that come to mind. 2008 was my first year racing pro and I ended up winning the US Open. With a World Cup stacked field, I almost couldnt believe it and that was a huge part in building confidence that led to my first ever World Cup podium, to my first ever win and winning the World Cup overall title. All these memories will be with me forever.
